NEW SOLAR, WITH OR WITHOUT A BATTERY

Solar panels, or
solar with a battery?

Start with how you use electricity. Then explore which system to ask an installer about.

01 / NEW SOLAR

Solar panels for your home

Generate electricity during daylight hours. How much you can use at home depends on your roof, system design and when you use power.

Considering a battery too?

Store some solar electricity for later use. Whether a battery is worthwhile depends on its cost, capacity, your usage and tariff.

YOUR ENQUIRY, STEP BY STEP

How your solar
enquiry works.

Tell us what you know about your home. An installation provider would assess the property and be responsible for its own design, quote and installation.

How the service works
  1. 01

    Start with your home

Your postcode, whether you own the property and the kind of project you have in mind.

  2. 02

    Tell us about your project

Choose new solar, with or without a battery, and add your roof type and preferred timescale. Not sure yet? Choose advice on a new system.

  3. 03

    Send your enquiry

We review your details and contact you to discuss a possible introduction. An enquiry does not book an appointment.

A PRACTICAL START

Know what affects
your solar options.

01

Your roof

Ask about orientation, shading, roof condition and the usable space for panels.

02

Your usage

Have an electricity bill ready. When you use power matters as well as how much you use.

03

Your budget

Compare equipment, scaffolding, installation, warranties and exclusions in writing. A headline price is only a starting point.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Your solar questions,
answered.

Are you a solar installer?

No. This is an independent solar referral service. We do not install equipment, survey roofs or provide an installation warranty. An installation provider would be responsible for its own advice, quote and work.

Which projects can I explore?

New solar, new solar with a battery, existing solar PV repair and home battery storage each have an enquiry path. For existing panels or storage without solar, see the storage guide. Repair and standalone-storage provider acceptance is unconfirmed; enquiries go to Bristol Solar Panel Installers.

What does a new solar installation cost?

As a starting benchmark, Energy Saving Trust gives around £7,600 for a typical 4.5kWp home system. This is not a Bristol quote. Read our cost guide and source for context.

Will this enquiry send my details to anyone?

Yes. The form sends your contact and project details to our enquiry service. We review them before discussing a possible introduction to a local installer. It does not automatically forward them to an installer or book an appointment.

Do solar panels work on every roof?

No. Orientation, shading, roof condition and usable space all need consideration. A property assessment is needed before a system can be specified. See Energy Saving Trust’s guide for more information.
